The service
One Big Family is operated by Tucker Maidstone. The service lets your family collaboratively create personalized children's books: you build a family tree, we generate an illustrated story from the photos and details your family provides, you preview it free, and we print and ship hardcovers you order.
Your content & permissions
You keep ownership of everything you upload and of your finished books. By uploading, you grant us the limited license needed to create, preview, print, and ship your books. You confirm you have the right to share the photos and details you add — including of other family members — and that invited members add their own content willingly. Don't upload photos of people who would object.
AI-generated content
Stories and illustrations are AI-generated from your family's input and can be imperfect. That's why the full preview is free and nothing prints until you approve it. Free generation is subject to availability and retry limits.
Orders, shipping, refunds
Prices are shown at checkout; payment is processed by Stripe. Books are printed on demand. Because every book is made-to-order, we can't accept returns — but if your book arrives damaged or misprinted, contact us within 30 days and we'll reprint or refund it.
Acceptable use
Family books only — no harassment, no impersonation, no content that could harm a child, no attempting to generate content about people without their (or their guardian's) consent. We may decline to generate or print content that violates these rules or our partners' policies.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months.
