Questions, answered

The book

What's the story?

Every book is one of a kind. After your family shares who everyone is — their worlds, their favorite things, the stories that connect you — we dream up several original plots written around YOUR family, and you pick the one you love (a quest, a surprise, a treasure trail… whatever fits you best). The story carries your child through a moment with each person who loves them — Grandpa's fishing dock, Auntie's kitchen, the cousins' lake trip — and ends with everyone together for one big finale hug. The words are written fresh for your family, in a warm read-aloud voice for ages 3–6. You pick that voice, too. We borrow the feel of beloved read-aloud styles, never the words.

Who can be in it?

Anyone: parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends, teachers, neighbors, and absolutely pets. Each illustrated member needs at least one photo so their character actually looks like them.

Can we include someone who has passed away?

Yes, and we treat it with real care. Memorial members get a gentle page of remembrance in plain, honest language: how they're remembered and what they passed down. Never present-tense pretending. You write the context; you approve the page.

How long is the book? What if my family is huge?

The book grows with your cast: a spread per person plus relationship stories and traditions, from 24 pages up to 40. Larger stories split into a multi-volume set. The number of volumes and total price are shown before you order; generation is subject to availability and usage limits.

What are relationship stories and traditions?

The secret sauce. Add 'how they met' stories to couples on your tree (the pie contest!) and group traditions (the cousins' summer lake trip). Each becomes its own spread in the journey.

Characters & photos

How do photos become characters?

Pick an art style, and our illustration engine turns each person's photos into a consistent storybook character: same face, same charm, page after page. Photos never appear in the printed book; only illustrations do.

What if Grandma doesn't like her character?

Invited members can request a new drawing with feedback such as 'rounder glasses' or 'my red gardening hat.' The character editor shows the remaining redraws, and you can choose an earlier version. Parents hold final approval over the whole cast.

Do relatives have to participate?

No. Invitations are optional, and you can add photos and details for anyone yourself. Books just get richer when everyone chips in.

Ordering & printing

What exactly is free?

Building your family tree, creating characters, and previewing your illustrated book are free, subject to generation availability and usage limits. You can read the full watermarked preview and edit the text before ordering. Your first purchase is a hardcover; a watermark-free digital PDF is available as a $9.99 add-on with that purchase or afterward.

What am I buying?

A premium square casewrap hardcover on thick color paper, in two sizes: Classic 8.5×8.5 inch ($69.99 first copy) or Little 7.5×7.5 inch ($59.99 first copy). Extra copies get cheaper as you add them: Classic $39.99 each, dropping to $36.99 and then $34.99 each at higher quantities; Little is always $34.99. Multi-volume sets add $49.99 (Classic) or $44.99 (Little) per extra volume, and the digital PDF add-on is $9.99. Orders of $89 or more get free standard shipping; otherwise shipping is calculated at checkout, plus sales tax where applicable. All prices are in US dollars.

Can grandparents buy their own copies?

Yes. Any adult member of your family account can order copies to their own address with their own card. No forwarding, no group texts about money.

Where do you ship, and how fast?

We ship to US addresses. Every book is printed on demand after you order. Shipping options are shown at checkout; their transit estimates start after printing and do not include production time. We cannot promise arrival for a particular date.

What's a 'living edition'?

Your family tree stays alive after you print. New baby? New photos? Start an updated edition any time, regenerated from today's family. It's a brand-new book and a new purchase, whenever you're ready.

Privacy & safety

What happens to our photos?

Photos are stored privately and sent to the AI processing partners described in our privacy policy to create your book. We do not sell them, share them with advertisers, or train our own AI models on them. Removing an eligible profile queues its photos and character assets for deletion; purchased editions and fulfillment records may need to be retained. See the privacy policy for details and deletion requests.

Is the story content safe?

We use automated checks for age-appropriateness and unkind portrayals. AI can still make mistakes, so review the words and pictures carefully. Nothing prints before you approve your book and place an order.
